Named after the Welsh God Mabon, the son of the Welsh Mother Goddess, Modron, Mabon is another name adapted in the 1970’s given to the Autumn Equinox. Both Modron & Mabon are said to also have inspired various characters in Arthurian legend, as well. The Feast of Avalon is another name for the Autumn Equinox & serves as an opportunity to nourish your body & soul for its well-being, & for restoration of balance. During this time, fill your belly & your mind, care for your body & soul. The Autumn Equinox is marked by the balance of day & night, as each become of equal length. As we stare into the last horizons of summer, its last days filled with brilliance & abundance, we give thanks for the good fortunes & abundance bestowed upon us. It is a time of fruitfulness, where everything we’ve planted & watered throughout the year comes to life. It is time to reap the rewards of the year & consider our own harvest, taking stock in what we’ve learned & preparing ourselves for the winter ahead. As summer comes to a close, we begin moving into the darkest parts of the wheel—the nights become colder & longer, the spirit realms begin to expand into the physical realm, & the last of the leaves begin to fall. Now is the time to gain strength for maintaining balance, continue building upon abundance, while always being gratuitous for your good fortunes. During this time, remember to thank yourself, the gods, &/or anyone who supported you during any hardships throughout the year. Consider the wholeness of this Equinox as balance, giving what you take & fulfilling your spiritual connection with nature in order to build upon your knowledge, strength, & psyche.
